Technical Capsule - USB

In this edition, we can explore the major variations in the ubiquitous USB - Universal Serial Bus found in all our computers and laptops.   Universal Serial Bus was first released in the desktop systems in 1996 and has found many improvements in the adaptation and speed of transfer of data.   USB A and  USB B:   Usb A refers to the rectangular shaped connector which is the standard in all our computers and laptops and one end of mobile charging cables.   Usb B refers to the square shaped connected found mostly in all the USB interface enabled peripherals such as printers, scanners etc.   USB A and USB B enforce the users to plug in mono directional only and the user will not be able to plug in the opposite direction. However, the data flow is bidirectional.   USB C is fully reversible, so no matter what side you grab to plug, it is  all the same. Then, its bi-directional power capabilities allow for the power flow in both directions, having devices charge each other and power larger displays. Also, USB-C has better data rates which can drive high-resolution monitors. There are a few versions available in USB which denote the improvements in the speed of data transfer over the period of 25 years.
